Anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials

This day 75 years ago marked the beginn of the so called 🇩🇪Nürnberger Prozesse (🇬🇧Nuremberg Trials) which were the trials against the main culprits and leaders (those who were caught) of the Nazi crimes. These trials took place between November 1945 and April 1949 in Nürnberg.

These trials are so important for Germany because they helped to get clarification about the Nazi crimes and for the first time, politicians and military personnel were penalized and their individual contribution to the Nazi crimes was investigated. Unfortunately, not all major culprits were convicted. Some war criminals, for example Adolf Hitler, Joseph Goebbels or Heinrich Himmler, couldn’t be charged anymore since they committed suicide before. Others escaped.

ℹ There’s an American movie about the trials, called “Judgment at Nuremberg” – in case you’re interested.
If you’re advanced in German, you could check out the short video “Nürnberger Prozess” by MrWissen2Go Geschichte on Youtube to learn more about this topic.
